The 77th Primetime Emmys - The Walt Disney Company Wins and Fun Moments

Only Murders in the Building, The Bear, Abbott Elementary, and many others were nominated this year.

The 77th Emmys aired earlier tonight, taking place on CBS at 8:00 ET/5:00 PT, hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze. The comedian opened the show with a rehashed version of a popular SNL sketch where he portrayed the inventor of television, before heading into the ceremony where he presented a bit that would see a charitable donation to the Boys & Girls Club of America dwindle if winners ran over their allotted 45 seconds of thank you speech time. This bit was his real thread throughout the entire ceremony and garnered mixed reviews on socials throughout the evening - though in the end, even more money was donated even though winners (many of which were first time winners) stayed past their time.

The big winners tonight were Apple TV’s The Studio, Netflix’s Adolescence, and WB’s The Pitt. Other awards saw winners from Hacks, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and The Penguin.

While The Walt Disney Company was represented with a staggering 137 nominations for this year’s awards, most of their wins were in the Creative Arts categories), with wins and noms recognizing content across ABC, FX, Hulu, Disney+, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, National Geographic, 20th Television, Searchlight Pictures, and more.

Tonight’s ceremony saw noms for FX’s The Bear with 13 nominations, as well as noms for ABC’s Abbott Elementary and Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building. Even though Disney’s 2025 Emmy presence reflected a diverse portfolio of prestige content embraced by both critics and audiences, only one award was handed to a Disney project this evening, going to the Disney+ Star Wars series, Andor.

Golden Girls Tribute

While not quite an award win, there was a moment celebrating the 40th anniversary of the hit series, The Golden Girls, which was distributed by Disney-Owned Touchstone Television and aired on NBC. The tribute, a performance of the classic theme, featured Reba, Karen Fairchild, and Kimberly Schlapman.
