83rd Golden Globe Awards - Winner from The Walt Disney Company
Tonight was a big night as we kick off Awards Season in Hollywood with the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, which aired live tonight on CBS and streamed live on Paramount Plus. Comedian Nikki Glaser returned to host the big night, celebrating greatness in both movies and television. This year, the Golden Globes added a new annual category for Best Podcast, and has become the first major awards show to include that type of media, being awarded to Amy Poehler's podcast, Good Hang. Glaser did a solid job emceeing the event once again, bringing her signature wit and smarts to her monologue, which also included some good jabs at the current Warner Bros. offers, as well as the actors in the audience and nominees in the crowd.
Disney fans will definitely be watching, as various films and television projects from all arms of the company are featured. Hits like Zootopia 2, Avatar: Fire and Ash, and more nominated, as well as some acclaimed titles from 20th Television like The Beast In Me, and Nobody Wants This. Other acclaimed titles we're seeing again nominated, as is par for the course in recent years like ABC's Abbott Elementary, FX's The Bear, and Hulu's Only Murders In The Building.
This year, shows like The Studio, Adolescence, and movies like Sinners, Hamnet, and One Battle After Another were the common threads. The world of animation and music, oft being awarded to a Disney project, to the surprise of few, went to Sony and Netflix's Kpop Demon Hunters.
In terms of wins for the Walt Disney Company - which had 27 different nominations this year - they left with only one, handed to the FX miniseries, Dying for Sex. Check out that win below.
