This fall, The Frida Cinema in Santa Ana, CA is inciting Disney fans to celebrate six different historic Disney films on the big screen.
What’s Happening:
- While having streaming services and at home rentals has made watching movies more accessible, nothing beats heading to the cinema for some big-screen immersion.
- Finding a major theater chain is usually pretty easy, but film fans looking to experience older movies in their intended format are always looking for a great way to celebrate films legendary and forgotten.
- Back in 2014, The Frida Cinema opened in downtown Santa Ana, becoming the only nonprofit independent cinema in Orange County.
- For Disney fans, there are so many films that have become cult classics overshadowed by the Frozen’s and The Lion King’s that have come after them.
- But The Frida Cinema is ready to take you on a little history lesson as they invite movie-lovers into a new film series they have dubbed Walt Disney Studies.
- Starting this September, the six film series will be hosted by Disney historian and author Jeff Kurtti, which will also feature lectures, presentations, and filmmaker forums.
- These include:
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Hosted by Jeff Kurtti + Presentation by Kevin Kidney (September 27th)
Alice in Wonderland: Hosted by Jeff Kurtti (October 4th)
Disneyland Documentary Double Feature: Hosted by Jeff Kurtti (October 25th)
Swiss Family Robinson: Hosted by Jeff Kurtti + Presentation by Kevin Kidney (November 1st)
South of the Border with Walt Disney: Hosted by Jeff Kurti + Q&A w/ Theodore Thomas (November 29th)
Lady and the Tramp: Hosted by Jeff Kurtti + Presentation by Theodore Gluck (December 13th)
