Review: "Main Street Country" EP Brings a Fresh Country Twist to Disney Classics
Slip on your headphones (and cowboy boots) because the new Main Street Country EP has arrived on all music streaming platforms!
Released by Walt Disney Records, Main Street Country is a five-track EP that reimagines beloved Disney songs through a modern country lens. The result is a collection that feels both familiar and refreshingly new, rooted in emotional storytelling and carried by some of country music’s most recognizable voices. The EP is a blend of Disney’s timeless storytelling and country music’s ability to turn emotion into narrative.
The track list includes:
- “Beauty and the Beast” from Beauty and the Beast (1991) sung by Kane Brown and Katelyn Brown
- “The Climb” from Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009) sung by Restless Road
- “She’s So Gone” from Lemonade Mouth (2011) sung by Dasha
- “You’ll Be in My Heart” from Tarzan (1999) sung by Maddie & Tae
- “Go the Distance” from Hercules (1997) sung by BRELAND
The EP opens with “Beauty and the Beast” from Beauty and the Beast, performed by Kane Brown and Katelyn Brown. Their version strips the song down to its emotional core, with just a dash of orchestral grandeur and plenty of country twang. The chemistry between the duo adds authenticity, making the love story feel personal.
Next, Restless Road takes on “The Climb” from Hannah Montana: The Movie, originally performed by Miley Cyrus. While this song already has country roots, Restless Road really nails the melancholy notes throughout the song and gives it a proper emotional build. While it’s less of a reinvention, this cover stands alone as more of a respectful evolution, one that stays true to the anthem’s weight.
Dasha’s take on “She’s So Gone” from Lemonade Mouth is arguably the most transformative track on the EP. Leaning fully into modern country-pop, her version amplifies the song’s empowerment theme with a confident, contemporary edge. It feels tailor-made for a new generation while still honoring the original song’s rebellious spirit. In an interview with Dasha, she said “I remember watching Lemonade Mouth for the first time, and the whole movie had me plotting how I was going to reinvent myself before school the next day. This track really captures that moment when women find themselves and boldly show the world who they are. I’m so excited to share this with a new generation and remind them that they can reinvent themselves and be exactly who they want to be.”
Maddie & Tae deliver one of the EP’s most emotional performances with “You’ll Be in My Heart” from Tarzan. Originally performed by Phil Collins, the song already carries deep emotional weight, but here, it’s given a warm, country reinterpretation that feels intimate and heartfelt. Knowing this is one of the duo’s final releases together adds an extra layer of poignancy. In an interview with the duo, they said, “Getting to sing one of our favorite Disney songs feels like coming full circle for us,” said Maddie Font and Tae Kerr. “We grew up on these soundtracks, so to be able to contribute to Disney’s legacy is surreal. And knowing this is one of our final releases together as Maddie & Tae makes it even more meaningful. It feels like we’re honoring the little girls we were, and the magical journey we’ve been on together.”
Closing out the EP, BRELAND brings a soulful, genre-blending approach to “Go the Distance” from Hercules. With live instrumentation and a strong vocal performance, the track captures the determination at the heart of the original while giving it a fresh, modern energy.
Main Street Country succeeds because it understands its audience. It’s for fans who grew up with these songs and now want to revisit them through a genre-driven lens. It’s modern without losing the heart of what made these songs iconic. Short but impactful, the EP proves that Disney and country music share the same foundation of storytelling that sticks with you.
The Main Street Country EP is now streaming on all music platforms, and you can also pre-order the exclusive vinyl set to release on May 15, 2026.
