"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" Becomes Third Biggest Second Weekend Ever

The friendly neighborhood hero has swung his way into his second weekend at the box office and is now the third biggest second weekend of all time.

UPDATE 8/9/2026:

• Spider-Man: Brand New Day is continuing its remarkable box office run, taking in another $145 million domestically while only in its second weekend in theaters.
• Variety reports that these numbers now bring Spider-Man: Brand New Day to a whopping $655 million in North America, and $1.67 billion globally.
• That means Spidey web-slung his way well past $1 billion in only six days and is now launching himself toward the $2 billion mark.
• Right now, Spider-Man: Brand New Day finds itself as the third-biggest second week of all time with that $145 million, following only Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Endgame.
• All eyes are on the movie to see if it will now become the first movie ever to surpass $1 billion at the box office domestically, and $3 billion globally.
• Domestically speaking, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is currently in the top spot with $936.6 million. Worldwide, the two titles in Peter Parker's way are Avatar and Avengers: Endgame, with $2.9 billion and $2.7 billion respectively, and only after several re-releases.

• While the early estimates were that Spider-Man Brand New Day would have an opening weekend just short of what Avengers: Endgame did domestically, the actual numbers were even better than expected.
• The current reported numbers from box office tracker The Numbers puts Brand New Day at a domestic total of $360 million, making it the highest grossing opening weekend in U.S. movie history.

• The Hollywood Reporter says Spider-Man: Brand New Day has brought in a remarkable $355 million at the domestic box office.
• That number would put it at number two all-time for domestic opening weekends, behind only Avengers: Endgame at $357 million.
• The movie also brought in an estimated $572 million around the world for a global total of $927 million, which is also second only to Endgame which opened to $1.2 billion worldwide.
