“The Little Mermaid” Float Breaks Down with Visible Smoke During the Paint the Night Parade at Disneyland
The smoke occurred after the float was towed off the parade route and into the Hub.
An unfortunate incident occurred during the Paint the Night Parade at Disneyland last night involving The Little Mermaid float.
What’s Happening:
- As eyewitness reports reveal, it was not a good night for the Paint the Night Parade at Disneyland.
- The Little Mermaid float had a power issue and broke down while heading through the park from “it’s a small world" to Main Street, U.S.A.
- While being towed in the Hub area, a complication with the brakes led to visible smoke. Guests and performers were removed from the area while the Disneyland Fire Department addressed the issue.
- Once the issue was addressed, the float was moved off to the side in the Hub area, to allow the floats behind to continue along the parade route.
- One cast member was attended to and released by First Aid on property, and there were no guest injuries.
- You can see the incident for yourself in the TikTok video below.
- Shortly after the smoke was put out, the float was towed to a backstage area just off Town Square.
- Reports indicate that the second performance of Paint the Night for the evening was heavily altered, with many floats missing in addition to The Little Mermaid one.
- Paint the Night will continue as scheduled tonight, although the inclusion of The Little Mermaid float is pending as teams complete their assessments.
