Katie Conway Promoted to Executive Producer of Robin Roberts Production Unit at ABC News Studios

The seven-time Emmy Award winner is taking on a larger role, guiding the future of unscripted content.

Katie Conway, a seven-time Emmy Award winner, has been promoted to executive producer of Robin Roberts’ dedicated unscripted development and production unit at ABC News Studios.

What's Happening:

  • Conway will oversee the development and production of premium feature documentaries, nonfiction series, and primetime specials for ABC, Disney+ and Hulu.
  • She joined the unit in 2023 as a senior producer and, in her expanded role, will help shape its creative direction and overall development across pop culture, news, and crime, with a focus on culturally relevant stories.
  • She will continue to be based in Los Angeles and will report to the head of ABC News Studios, Mike Kelley.
  • As senior producer, Conway helped lead production on high-profile primetime specials featuring global figures like Kerry Washington and Gisele Bündchen, while contributing to timely news specials, such as the Emmy-nominated Prisoner in Russia: The Brittany Griner Interview and Hurricane Katrina: 20 Years After the Storm.
  • Conway produced the docu-style special Lainey Wilson: Bell Bottom Country and the docuseries Murder Has Two Faces, highlighting underreported cases overlooked by the media.
  • Prior to joining the unit, Conway previously served as a supervising producer for Good Morning America, overseeing booking and editorial coverage across breaking news, sports, and entertainment.

What They're Saying:

  • Robin Roberts: “Beyond being a home for me at ABC News Studios, this unit is special because of the kinds of stories we tell. I’ve seen firsthand what it takes to turn these meaningful stories into powerful specials, series and documentaries, and no one approaches this work with greater instinct, care or talent than Katie Conway.”
  • Katie Conway: “This unit was born out of Robin’s rare, unmistakable voice and brand of storytelling. That sensibility is the engine behind the originals they’ll produce, including the highly anticipated, single-subject biopics we’ll announce later this year.”
